The T.H.U.G. Award was created to honor the men and women in entertainment, who are products of urban communities and extenuating circumstances, who have used their God-given talents and business savy to create opportunities of wealth for themselves, their community and the entertainment industry. T.H.U.G. award honorees are the trendsetter and tastemakers who provide an essential service, function and/or operation from "behind the scenes" that are essential for what is presented the consumer. This year, The Source and DOWN Magazine has established an annual celebration to pay homage to those who have and continue to pave the way yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Atlanta Georgia is set to play host to the upcoming annual occasion. The inaugural event promises to attract the attendance of fans by the thousands as well as music entertainment and fashion professionals, and a mirage of celebrities for networking, media opportunities, the awards show, nightly parties and an all around good time.

T.H.U.G Awards promises to be the premiere entertainment awards experience since The Source hosted the first Hip Hop Awards Show in 1994. As the originator of hip hop awards shows, The THUG Awards will be just the reinvention needed to reintroduce The Source Magazine as the original hip hop publication impacting the entertainment and fashion industries. Rather than a traditional award show that honors the hitmakers, The THUG Awards is a comedic "roast" of top influential industry players. The weekend of festivities will be hosted by several top comedians and will include video presentations and a host of tribute performances by today's favorite artists
